We are a developing non-profit birth center here in Albuquerque. Full Circle Midwifery Birth & Health Center will be a freestanding, certified nurse/midwife-run, licensed and accredited women's health care and birthing center. We will be accredited through the Commission for the Accreditation of Birth Centers (CABC). This means that this birth center will adhere to the established national standards of excellence for service and operations as set forth by the CABC specifically for birth centers. Licensing and accreditation give the public and parents a way to measure the quality of a birth center. Professional licensing and accrediting agencies provide oversight of the outcomes of care in the center, as well as the physical facility. They research such things as: charts and pregnancy outcomes, client satisfaction, overall organization of the birth center as well as facility site safety. As stated, we are currently a "developing" birth center. This means that we are not yet open for business. We are still in the process of writing for grants, building our board of directors and finding our perfect home. We hope to be open for business by early 2010. As we continue to move forward in this process there will be a variety of opportunities for community involvement. We desire to be truly community rooted, so we encourage you to help cultivate this center into your center, to serve your needs.
